WE HAVE EXTENDED THE CLOSING DATE TO FRIDAY 31st JULY 2026

‍ ‍Mataiwi

Rangitāne o Wairarapa Trust and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Trust have a longstanding relationship to deliver a kaupapa that places the wellbeing, identity and whakapapa of tamariki at its heart.

We are seeking a compassionate and Te Ao Māori focussed Mataiwi to join our Runanga. Working in partnership with Oranga Tamariki, you'll walk alongside tamariki, rangatahi and whānau to strengthen connections to whakapapa, whānau, hapū and iwi, while supporting culturally informed, whānau led decision making.

This unique role combines whakapapa research, whānau engagement, relationship building and cultural leadership. You'll work alongside social workers, coordinators and community networks to identify whānau connections, facilitate meaningful engagement, and ensure the voices of tamariki and their whānau are central to every decision.

We're looking for someone who:

·         Is an experienced social work practitioner with current practice experience in the social services sector.

·         Preferably is working towards, or has completed a recognised social work qualification.

·         Has a sound understanding of relevant legislation and practice frameworks relating to tamariki, rangatahi, and whānau.

·         Has a strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, tikanga and whakapapa.

·         Builds trusted relationships with whānau, hapū and iwi.

·         Is passionate about improving outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi.

·         Can work collaboratively with Oranga Tamariki while maintaining an iwi led approach.

·         Brings the confidence, integrity and practice experience to support whānau centred decision making and strengthen outcomes for tamariki and whānau.

If you believe every tamaiti deserves to know who they are, where they come from, and the strength of those who stand behind them, we'd love to hear from you.
