Mō te tūranga | About the role
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Pou Whakarite Matua to lead our office operations and ensure our mahi is grounded in manaaki, tikanga, and excellence. Reporting to the Pou Whakahaere, this pivotal role oversees:
Office and contracts management
Human resources and team support
Health, safety and risk management
Supporting the use of te reo me ōna tikanga within our daily operations
Demonstrated financial acumen with ability to lead audit preparation, maintain accurate reporting, and provide training.
This is a leadership role that requires someone who is confident in a kaupapa Māori environment, highly organised and values-led.
Ngā pūkenga me ōu wheako | What you’ll bring
We’re seeking someone who can confidently carry both the values of te ao Māori and the responsibilities of administration. You will bring:
Competence in te reo Māori and comfort with tikanga and kawa
Experience working with iwi, hapū, whānau and Māori communities
A genuine commitment to upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Proven office management and leadership experience
Knowledge of HR practices, payroll, and finance systems
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Understanding of employment law and health & safety legislation
A qualification in business, HR or a related area is preferred, but demonstrated kaupapa Māori leadership is highly valued.
