Kaitoko Whānau

Maara Kai

Maara Kai – our youth care for the raised gardens at Te Hāmua (Rangitāne offices). and most of the kai is distributed to their whānau and kaumātua.

The Kaitoko Whānau programme is run in partnership with Te Puni Kōkiri and its aim is to help whānau to gain full access to government and community-based support and services.

The Kaitoko Whānau worker has the ability to work with whānau that are not necessarily in trouble with the law or under threat from CYFs. Rather the programme recognises that whānau often struggle with issues such as housing, education or employment and just need someone to advise them what to do, where to get help or who are the right people to talk to.
